What do you see?
What do you see?
I guess what I want to ask you: can you look beyond
The first things that are on display, there for all to see
Will you look for every secret, hidden behind closed doors
Or will you walk straight ahead, not even trying to find me
What do you see?
When you look real close?
Do you see me?
Or just the me, I let you see?
I guess it might not even be on you to go and really look
For all the dark and scary secrets, wrapped up so very tight
I’m not sure if it your of my responsibility every single time
To show all the things you or I would rather hide
What do you see?
When you look real close?
Do you see me?
Or just the me, I let you see?
Do we need to see, hear and know everything about each other
Or can we cherish, adore and love just the part that’s on display
Do secrets always destroy the band between two lovers
Or will telling all there is to know lead to more disarray
What do I see?
When I look real close?
Do I let you be?
Or do I just see what you let me see?
Maybe, just maybe we can stop looking so damn hard
For the parts that we do not know, hear or see
Maybe, just maybe all we need to do is close our eyes
And feel all the ways that love connects you and me
What do we see?
When we look real close?
Can we let us be?
Simply you and me?
